Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

Account data: email, display name, handle. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a verified account identifier from that provider, along with your name and email address where you allow it — if you use Apple's Hide My Email, we receive only the relay address Apple generates. Race data: session logs, lap times, setup configurations, vehicle details, tire inventory. Usage data: feature interactions, crash reports. Photos: images you upload for AI identification or session attachments. Approximate location: only if you choose to grant location permission — see section 3.

2. How We Use Your Data

To provide and improve App features including session tracking, AI coaching, and result imports. To display your public profile and shared content to other users. To send notifications you have opted into. To measure feature usage and improve the App using product-analytics events linked to your account; these capture which features and screens you use, never your race data, photos, or other racers' information.

3. Location

VizRC can find tracks and races near you. This is optional: we ask for location permission only when you tap to use it, never when you open the App, and declining leaves town and state search available as a full alternative. We request foreground ("while using the App") permission only — never background or always-on location.

Before your position leaves your device it is snapped to a coarse grid of roughly three kilometres, so what we receive is an approximate area rather than your actual position. We use it as a search parameter to find nearby venues and events. It is not added to your profile, your race history, or any shared content; it is written to no VizRC database record, application log, or cache; and it is never used for advertising or shown to other users. Once you have granted permission, the App refreshes this approximate area when you open the Today screen, so that nearby races stay current. You can revoke the permission at any time in your device settings.

4. AI Processing

Photos submitted for AI identification are processed by third-party AI providers (Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic). GPS EXIF data is stripped from all photos before processing. We use these providers' paid API tiers; per their API terms, submitted data is not used to train their models. Those providers may retain submitted data for a limited period under their own terms, for purposes such as abuse monitoring. AI results are cached temporarily to avoid redundant processing.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. Public profile information (display name, handle, shared sessions) is visible to other VizRC users.

We use service providers that process data on our behalf and on our instructions: AI providers (Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic) for image and text processing; RevenueCat for subscription management; Sentry for crash and performance diagnostics; DigitalOcean Spaces for image storage; and Apple and Google for payment processing. Product-analytics events are recorded on VizRC's own infrastructure and are not sent to any third-party analytics service. If you ask us to import your results from a race platform, we send the driver name you provide to that platform to look up your own public results. We may disclose data when required by law.

6. Data Storage and Security

Data is stored on secured servers. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. API communication uses TLS encryption. We implement rate limiting and access controls to protect your account.

7. Data Retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. After account deletion request, data is permanently removed after a 30-day grace period. AI processing images are stored for up to 90 days, then automatically deleted. Account-linked usage-analytics data may be retained for product analysis.

8. Your Rights

You may: access and export all your data (Settings > Export My Data), correct your profile information at any time, delete your account and all associated data, opt out of non-essential notifications. Data export is provided in JSON format.

9. Children's Privacy

VizRC is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us at [email protected].

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
